Invisalign can only be used to correct specific dental issues. The structure of Invisalign is not able to be used to correct big issues such as large gaps or crooked teeth. Here are some dental issues that can be corrected using Invisalign:
Misaligned teeth - Teeth that are slightly out of alignment can be easily realigned using an Invisalign treatment. Some common causes of misaligned teeth include genetics, thumb-sucking as a toddler, and having a jawline that is too small for your teeth.
Crooked & crowded teeth - Invisalign can straighten crooked teeth in some instances, but it depends on the severity of the crooked teeth. Mildly crooked teeth can be corrected with Invisalign in six months to a year depending on how crooked the person’s teeth are. The cause of crooked teeth is usually a genetic condition due to having a jaw that is too small or hyperdontia, which is when a person gets more teeth than the expected amount.
Overbite and underbite - An overbite is when your lower teeth are substantially behind your upper teeth. An underbite is when your upper teeth are behind your lower teeth. Both dental issues can be treated with a few months of Invisalign treatment. If you are dealing with an overbite or underbite contact our dental office.
Crossbite & open bite - A crossbite is when a person’s teeth on the bottom and top do not meet when their mouth is closed. This can be treated with Invisalign because you can get Invisalign to push back a person’s teeth into the proper position.
